Packham, Bob

Robert Cecil Packham, age 92, of Stratford passed away peacefully at Cedarcroft Place, on December 20, 2018. Born in Downie Township, son of the late Cecil and St. Clair Packham. Bob took over the farm from his parents in 1948 when he married his wife Grace (Hislop). Together they farmed and raised their family; Mary Kerr (Dan), Brenda Hengeveld (Gerry), Jean Packham, Linda Tennent (Randy) and Diane Packham. Bob was a known Pure Bred Holstein Breeder. Many family gatherings and special occasions were held at the homestead. His 16 grandchildren spent lots of time there and Bob was able to know them and see them grow into adults. He now has several great grandchildren. Bob and Grace took many trips to Alberta to be with family. He is survived by sisters Mary Hislop and Ruby Elder, sister-in-law Audrey Hislop and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Jack Packham (Marjorie), sister Anne Bain (Alan) and brothers-in-law Don Hislop and Doug Elder. Bob was a director of Southeasthope Mutual Insurance for many years and was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Stratford. Bob and Grace curled in Mitchell where they made many lasting friendships. Bob knew and liked good music, a good laugh and friends. He sold his dairy herd known as Glennham Holsteins in 1976.

Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, December 28, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. Interment at Avondale Cemetery.
