BREAKING: Eddie Matthews announces departure from Vista Radio

It’s the end of an era on the radio in Stratford.

After 20 years of being on the air on Juice FM, many as the morning show host, Eddie Matthews has announced that he is leaving the position to become the General Manager of the Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce.

Matthews says that he was thinking of retiring from radio this year, after working in the industry for a total of 40 years, and he said he made the decision final when the opportunity at the chamber became available when Brad Beatty left the position.

Matthews says Stratford means a lot to him.

“Stratford is home, London may be hometown but this is home, it’s the people that blow me away every single day when we are doing something and when we need assistance with something that they’re always there.”

MJ Thomson is the Board Chair of the Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce and she says they are excited to have Matthews lead them into their next chapter because of what he means to the community.

“It’s about Stratford Humane Society that they did such a great campaign with and it’s about all the other organizations he’s been involved in that he has risen them to a value that was better than before he started.”

Matthews last morning show is this Friday on 107.1 Juice FM.

An Open House is being held on Thursday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the public is welcome.
