Stratford Concert Choir kicks off concert season with comforting requiem

Stratford Concert Choir is starting its season with uplifting renaissance music.

The choir is hosting Fauré Requiem on Nov. 7 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

President Sheila Holloway said when people think of requiems, they expect a dark, solemn and heavy piece.

“Gabriel Fauré, when he wrote it, had a different idea, different outlook and a different approach. This requiem is actually very intimate and it is remarkably comforting music that looks beyond death toward happiness and peace.”

She said the piece is appropriate to perform as the community comes into remembrance season.

Tickets are still available online in the choir website or by visiting Blowes Stationery.

The show starts at 2 p.m.
