Police: Impaired driver in Perth East now faces drug related charge

A drug-related charge has now been laid against a Toronto man already charged with impaired driving.

Back on February 16th, Perth County OPP say they were contacted by a concerned resident about a possible impaired driver with a car in the ditch in Perth East.

Police say officers located the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired and he was arrested and transported to the Sebringville detachment for further testing.

The 25-year-old man from Toronto was charged with two offences including Operation while impaired by alcohol.

According to police, they also seized drugs at the time that were determined to be fentanyl and carfentanil with a combined street value of around $10,600.

The man has now also been charged with possessing the drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

He has a court date scheduled for June 10th in Stratford.
