HPHA: Staff recruitment challenges behind changes to laboratory operations

Ongoing staff recruitment challenges are behind laboratory operations being restructured.

That’s what the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says is the situation with operations being restructured to ensure “timely and appropriate” support to patients in the alliance’s emergency departments, inpatient units and registered hospital clinics.

As of next Monday, the HPHA says community laboratory services at the Clinton Public Hospital and the Seaforth Community Hospital will no longer be offered for “walk-in community patients” until further notice.

Laboratory services will continue to be offered to inpatients, hospital clinic patients and the emergency department.

Meanwhile, the laboratory department at the Stratford General Hospital remains open for community patients.
