Peck, Jean Kathryn

Jean Kathryn Peck passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Stratford General Hospital surrounded by love. She was born and resided at 216 Norman Street and 202 Norman Street, Stratford. Later she moved to Carlingford, Ontario. She married James Herbert Peck on October 16, 1954, one day after Hurricane Hazel hit the province. Jean was employed with the Stratford Police Services, the City of Stratford (Assessment Office) and the Ministry of the Attorney General as private secretary to Crown Attorneys Douglas Page and Henry Van Drunen, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Jean is survived by her son Wayne Peck and his wife Susan. She was predeceased by her husband James Herbert Peck September 09, 2007, her parents Bernice Cook (1970) and the former Mary Kathleen Hopkins (1979), her father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph Peck (1964) and the former Bertha Hooper (1948). Family members Raymond and Helen Cook, Leola and Stanley Howe, Robert and Muriel Bannister, Neil and Mary Cook, Carson and Jean Cook, Jims siblings Bertha Peck (in infancy), Celia and Lorne Maybee, Joseph (Ab) and Violet Peck, Harold and Shirley Peck, Charles and Audrey Peck. The family would like to thank the staff of the Stratford General Hospital (Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit) for their extra special care. Also, special thanks to David & Ben Smitjes, June Wells, Andrea Scott and all friends of the family that visited the Hospital. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, August 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Mark Wolfe will officiate. Interment at Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Sick Kids (Toronto) Building Foundation, Stratford Perth Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society or Stratford General Hospital Foundation through the funeral home.
