Gail Smyth, 76 of Hilltop Manor, Cambridge and formerly of Mitchell passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Beloved wife of the late George Smyth (2002). Dear mother of David Smyth (Sharon) of Simcoe and Donna Squire (Mark) of Cambridge. Loving grandmother of Lucas, Zachary and Kylie Squire and Sydney, Samuel and Hayley Smyth. Dear sister of Ross Duncan (Catherine) of Kanata. Dear aunt of Laurie Boyes (Tim) and James Duncan (Sarah).

Predeceased by her parents James and Lillian Duncan and son Douglas (1973).

Gail was an involved member of the Mitchell community. She founded the Job’s Daughters Bethel in Mitchell and supported the organization for many years. Gail and George were members of Exeter Chapter 222 OES. She was an active member of the Main Street United Church Choir, volunteered with the Mitchell Figure Skating Club and supported her husband in the operation of Smyth’s Shoes. Gail found a passion for travel with George and escorted many tours with Fettes Travel. She moved to Cambridge to be closer to family, but she fondly remembered her friends in Mitchell and growing up in Winnipeg.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, Mitchell. A reception at the Lockhart Reception Centre will follow. Memorial donations to Main St. United Church would be appreciated.  Online condolences at www.LockhartFuneralHome.com.
