Stratford one step closer to having an inter-community transportation program

Stratford is getting closer to setting up an inter-community transportation program.

At their regular meeting Monday night, Stratford City Council voted to enter into an agreement with Techknowledge Consulting for coordinating services for the transportation program.

Early last year, Stratford received $1.45-million from the province to launch an inter-regional transit pilot project, which would provide bus access from Stratford, Listowel and St.Marys to hubs in Kitchener and London.

Perth County also received $1.45 million in funding for an intra-regional transit pilot project that would link the communities of Stratford, Mitchell, Sebringville, Monkton, Atwood, Milverton, Listowel and Millbank.

The transportation coordinator will manage the project, and find a bus service provider.

Public consultations are planned for the fall with the service expected to launch in the spring of 2020.
