Stratford Police reminding you about Halloween safety

Be bright and be seen.

That’s the message from the Stratford Police Service as kids get set to head out to trick or treat Thursday night.

Constable Darren Fischer says on top of being excited, the rain and wind may mean kids are not paying as much attention to road safety.

“It’s going to reduce visibility for drivers, kids might be a little more apt to kind of put their head down and not watch where they’re going as well so just be careful of that.”

Fischer says kids should carry a flashlight or glow sticks or put reflective tape on their costumes.

He also says kids should go out with parents or friends as there is power in numbers.

Parents, don’t forget to check candy over when your little ones get home and be aware of wrappers that have been tampered with or goodies that aren’t in packaging and just throw them out.
