A $15-thousand grant is coming from PetSmart Charities of Canada for the program with officials saying that it will be used to help individuals or families in emergency situations get boarding services for their pets for as long as two weeks. The humane society says it helped 23 families and 31 pets with emergency boarding last year. Emergency situations include military deployment, homelessness and those dealing with domestic violence.
