Nelson, Scott

Scott Russell Nelson, age 61, of Stratford passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle at the Stratford General Hospital on November 26, 2019. Born in Stratford, November 6, 1958, son of the late Garth and Marlene Nelson.

A diehard Red Sox nation member and a musican, music was Scott’s life. He was the lead singer of Strait Jacket and The Tarts in the 1980’s and was a forerunner in the experimental music genre. Up until his death, Scott was working with Hatts Off.

He is the loving father of Ariel (Andrew), Alex (Melissa) and their mother Joan Maehle, brother of Jan Nelson and is survived by his best friend Gus Meindersma. He was predeceased by sister Kathryn in infancy.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in the Reception Centre of the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, November 30, from 1-4 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
