Mary Louise (McKellar) Jarema 1927-2019

Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday December 15th at Ajax/Pickering Hospital in her 93rd year.  Mary was born in Stratford on May 6th 1927, daughter of the late Hugh and Olive McKellar.  Mary resided in Stratford until January 2014 when she moved to Pickering to be closer to her niece Gail (Severt) Goodine and her family.

Predeceased in January 2012 by her loving husband William (Bill) Jarema.  Also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Grace & Bill Severt.

Mary was very well known for her musical talents.  She was a soprano soloist in Knox Church choir for several decades and concert violinist in the Stratford Civic Orchestra.

Mary was an elder and lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

In 1982, Mary retired after an outstanding career with London Life.  Mary and Bill enjoyed many years of travelling to England, Scotland, Wales and Russia doing genealogy.  They spent their winters in Florida after retirement.

Mary is survived by her nieces Gail Goodine (Art) of Stouffville & Ann Whiteley (Gord) of Frederick MD.

Great nieces and nephews Alison (Goodine) Rockett (Mark) of Georgetown,  Andrew Goodine (Lyndsay) of Ajax,  Adam Goodine of Claremont,  Kyle Whiteley (Kerry) of Leesburg VA,  Megan Whiteley-Schuellein (Pete) of Frederick MD,  Bryn Seabrook (Thomas ) of Charlottesville VA.

Also survived by great-great-nephews Vann Rockett, Cole Goodine, Brayden Whiteley and great-great-nieces Sloane Rockett and Blake Goodine.

Fondly remembered by Bill’s remaining family in the United States.

A memorial service will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron St, Stratford, ON, on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  A reception will follow at the funeral home.  Interment at Avondale Cemetery.

Memorial gifts to Parkinson Canada or Heart and Stroke Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers.

Special thanks to the staff of Orchard Villa Long Term Care (Cedar Unit) in Pickering for Mary’s care over the last 4 years.

Rest in peace Aunt Mary.
