Abbott, Arthur Wayne

M.W.O. Arthur CD2  RET’D-RCR 4th Battalion, Stratford

Wayne was born in Brantford, Ontario, July 28, 1941 and passed away January 2, 2020 at the Stratford General Hospital. Wayne came to Stratford in 1967 and joined the RCR 4th Battalion. Wayne worked for the City of Stratford as a By-Law Enforcement Officer until his retirement in 1998 and was a proud Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8; Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada Unit 261 and The Stratford Police Pipes & Drums. Wayne is survived by his partner of 25 years Brenda Schippling. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elsie Abbott. Brother of Barb Swinton (late Ross) and Ron Abbott (Lana). Father of Maureen Abbott, David Abbott (Sandy O’Halloran), Marilyn Davis and Barbara Abbott. Stepfather of Greg Zimmer (Aislinn McCauley). Wayne loved all his children. Loving Poppa of two special girls, Azalea and Ivy Zimmer, as well as grandfather to several grandchildren. Special uncle of many nieces and nephews here in Stratford as well as in Brantford. Wayne will be missed by many family and friends. A graveside service at Avondale Cemetery will be held in the spring followed by a Celebration of Life. Details to be announced.
