The 145th Western Fair in London has been canceled over COVID-19.

The Western Fair Association’s Board of Governors and management team announced the decision Thursday afternoon.

In a statement, they say COVID-19 concerns and restrictions on mass gatherings will remain in place for the foreseeable future and their event would have brought thousands of visitors together daily over ten-days, as well as employed hundreds of staff and volunteers.

They say the reality of impending timelines required to prepare for and create the 10-day event, as well as the fact that the COVID-19 virus has no foreseeable end date, made it apparent that it would not be possible to mount the event in September.

It’s the first time since World War 2 that the fair has been canceled.
