Brand, Cacilie

The family mourns the loss of a dear mother, mother-in-law, Oma and Grossoma.  Cacilie Katherine Brand, 100, resident of Stratford since 1954, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2014, with her family at her side.  She was born in Germany, on December 28, 1913, daughter of the late Alois Wilhelm and Margaret Estenfelder.  She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Lorenz Brand in 1984 and their infant son, Wilhelm in 1945, and by all her brothers and step-sisters in Germany.  She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Reinhilde (Alex) Brand; Waltraud (Franz) Ebner; and Johanna (Dave) Franks.  Special Oma to Bernard (Carole) and Susi Franke, Frank (Susan) Ebner, Katherine (Ken) Madsen, Michelle (Bryan) Gillespie and Annette (Ken) Diamond.  Dear Grossoma to Sarah and Franklin Ebner, Karoline and Karsten (Meaghan) Madsen, Robyn Love, Sasha Franke, David Gillespie and Nicholas and William Diamond.  Cacilie was a member of the St. Joseph’s/Immaculate Conception Cluster and was a 50-year-member of the Catholic Women’s League. A special thanks to the staff of Anne Hathaway Retirement Home and Wildwood Nursing Home for their very attentive and loving care to our mother.  Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, August 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday at 11 a.m. Father Dick Bester – Celebrant. Interment in Avondale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Restoration Fund or the Stratford General Hospital through the funeral home. The CWL will hold a prayer service Thursday at 1:45pm
