Huron Perth MOH hopeful school will return to normal in the fall

The Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth says she’d like to see school back to normal come the fall.

During a media conference Monday afternoon, Dr. Miriam Klassen said the ideal solution would see low community transmission of COVID-19 along with plans in place if a student does contract the virus.

That would enable school to be back in session five days a week.

She says if handled correctly, a student who contracts the virus could be isolated while others are able to continue to go to class.

She says it remains to be seen if school being back five days a week will impact community transmission but she adds the virus among young children seems to be less severe than it is in those who are older.

Dr.Klassen says she believes we will remain in Stage Three until a vaccine is discovered for COVID-19.
