Clinton man charged with assaulting a police officer

A 30-year-old Clinton man faces charges after police say he assaulted an officer in Clinton.

Around 1 o’clock in the afternoon on July 14th, Huron County OPP says an officer responded to an apartment complex on James Street to investigate a report of a male that was causing a disturbance with another tenant.

Investigators determined the male had threatened and gestured to cause harm against another tenant at the complex.

When the investigating officer attempted to apprehend the suspect police say he immediately resisted arrest and struck the officer in the head, they say he also made threats toward the officer.

The injured officer was treated at a local hospital and was released with a head injury.

Jesse Hill has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault, and two counts of Utter Threats.

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 24th in Goderich.
