We now know what taking the bus to school will look like for students in the Avon Maitland District School Board.
In an update to families, the AMDSB says medical masks and face shields will be required for school bus drivers and school board staff riding the bus while students in grades 4 to 12 will also be required to wear a mask unless they are exempt.
Students in grades K to 3 will be encouraged but not required to wear masks.
Buses will be loaded with students as per normal and will service more than one school in most cases with only one pick-up/drop-off address allowed per student, unless a joint custody arrangement is in place.
Officials say enhanced cleaning, at least twice a day for high touch areas, will be completed.
Families will be required to indicate if their child will be taking the bus during preregistration.
