Kydd, Robert (Bob)

Robert (Bob) Alistair Kydd, of 80 Easson Street, Stratford, passed away on November 30, 2020 at the Clinton Hospital after three months fighting the effects of a stroke. Bob was born in Owen Sound on October22, 1939.  He was the son of Thomas Kydd and Mary Evelyne Wilkins.

He married Marlene June Thomas, on July 11, 1964 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Stratford.

Marlene spent many hours sitting with Bob during his illness. Bob was proud of his son, Steven and his wife Jocelyn, and of his grandson Andrew Robert. Surviving siblings of Bob are brothers Tom (Diane) and Jack (Sandra) and is sister Evelyne (Glenn). Bob is also survived by Thomas brothers-in-law Gary (Joyce) and Marvin (Pat). A long-time friend, Bill Leney, visited Bob often during his illness.

As a teenager, Bob joined the Canadian Army for four years and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles in Europe. Returning home to Stratford, Bob became a butcher and ended up a department manager in supermarkets in both Stratford and Woodstock. Bob will be remembered with fondness by the various generations of nieces and nephews of the Thomas family, whom Bob supported in many ways. The Family would like to thank the staff at the Stratford, Seaforth and Clinton Hospitals who cared for Bob.

A family service will be held with interment at Avondale Cemetery.
