Salter, Charles (Chuck)

Charles (Chuck) James Salter, age 91, of Stratford, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday Dec 2, 2020. Born in Stratford, son of the late Charles and Hazel (Robertson) Salter. True love and best friend of Norma (Finch) Salter for 72 years. Proud father of Linda Kieswetter, Judi (Dave) Weaver, Brad (Cindy) Salter, Patti (Paul) McCormick and Gayle (Eric) Salter-Kennedy and pre-deceased by son-in-law Rick. Much loved Gramps to Bryan (Amy), Adam (Marlin), Rob (Jodi), Larissa (Elson), Matt (Jenn), Kate (Mike), Chris (Megan), Jennifer (Kevin), Michelle, Matthew (Janie) and Andrew, and his great-grandchildren Ryley, Jeremiah, Liam, Lily, Gracie, Aaron, Holly, Huck and Aurora and pre-deceased by Pitt. Brother to the late Shirley (Russ) Wilhelm, Fred and Bill and brother-in-law to Doug Finch and Shirley (Hank) Seltzer. Survived by brother Ron (Helen), and sisters-in-law Glenda and Donalda and Ellen Lucy, and many nieces and nephews. Chuck retired from Kroehler Furniture after 43 years. When not doting on his family, Dad was active in the community as a Boy Scout Leader, Officer in the Sea cadets, President of Minor Baseball, member of the Perth Regiment Militia and the Perth Regiment Pipe Band, Rotary Hockey Coach and a member of Centennial United Church until it’s closing, and later Parkview United Church. Chuck spent leisure time curling and golfing. After retirement he loved his 12 years as a Snowbird in winter and summers at the cottage at Hunter’s Beach. He spent countless hours woodworking wherever he was.

Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, December 6, from 1-4 p.m. In accordance with provincial regulations, those wishing to attend the visitation must call or email the funeral to set up a time. A private family service will follow.
