It’s a major investment in broadband infrastructure in Perth County.
Officials say more than 860 residents and businesses in the area are one step closer to fast, reliable internet access now that five contracts have been signed for broadband infrastructure.
Both the Government of Canada and Ontario have each committed up to $1.8 million to create an improved, modern broadband network.
It’s expected the network will be up and running by March next year with the projects, valued at $6.6 million, aimed at underserved areas in the county.
The contracts have been awarded by Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology, a not-for-profit corporation created by local municipalities.
