There are nine patients with COVID-19 in hospital in our region.
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance President Andrew Williams says four of the patients are in intensive care and five are in the medical unit with all of the patients at the Stratford General Hospital.
All nine are from outside our region with eight coming from the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area.
He says the hospital has managed to open up ten beds in the ICU and they are looking at the possibility of opening up a further three beds in the unit.
“Because we have had to reduce services in other parts of the organization we’ve been able to move staff into our intensive care unit to support the beds, we have a team based model of care.”
Williams adds they still have capacity in the hospital for anyone who may need to be treated for conditions other than COVID-19.
