The Stratford Warriors and the hockey community are mourning one of their own.

The team says forward Carter Schoonderwoerd, who played for them in 2019-20, has died at the age of 19.

A cause of death for the Mitchell teen wasn’t announced.

Schoonderwoerd was a prospect for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League who issued a statement marking his passing.

The Warriors said on Twitter that they are extremely saddened by the news and their condolences, thoughts and prayers are with Carter’s family, friends and teammates.
