The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League says they aren’t currently mandating COVID-19 vaccinations.

In an email to, league commissioner Brent Garbutt says they are following the provincial government’s lead on encouraging, but not mandating, vaccinations.

On Tuesday, the Ontario Hockey League announced players, staff and billet families with the OHL will all be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the upcoming season.

The league says the plan is effective immediately.

Garbutt adds they are currently awaiting more information and/or instructions from governing bodies and public health units
