Stratford City Council awards contract for rehabilitation of the roof at Cooper Site

A contract worth over $2.4 million has been awarded for the development of Stratford’s Cooper Site.

Stratford City Council voted at their virtual meeting on Monday afternoon to accept a bid from Gateman-Milloy Incorporated for the work which focuses on rehabilitating over 100,000 square feet of streel truss roof of the former Grand Trunk Railway repair shops.

Five companies bid on the project with the Kitchener-based company coming in the lowest.

It’s being paid for out of reserves from the city’s 2022 Capital Budget.

Other redevelopment projects planned for next year and 2023 will be brought to council on a case-by-case basis.
