HPPH updates COVID-19 case and contact management with Omicron surge expected

Huron Perth Public Health is updating the way it manages COVID-19 cases and contacts because of an expected surge in Omicron cases.
If you test positive for the virus, you must self-isolate for ten days from either the date your symptoms started or from the date you were tested, regardless of your vaccination status.
You must also tell your close contacts so that they know to self-isolate as well and if you, or your child, is a close contact to a confirmed case, you need to book a PCR test right away and again on or after day seven.
HPPH officials say you must also self-isolate for 10 days since the last time you interacted with the case, regardless of your vaccination status.
Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen says the health unit has investigated more than 150 confirmed COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks and she says they expect numbers will continue to rise.
