Two main street ambassadors are on the way to help businesses in downtown Stratford and St.Marys face challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over $300,000 in funding has been allocated for the positions and other initiatives through the federal government’s My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program in an effort to revitalize downtown cores.
It’s being led by investStratford in partnership with the Stratford City Centre Committee as well as the Town of St.Marys tourism and economic development department and the St.Marys Downtown BIA.
The ambassadors will be dedicated to helping businesses continue to recover from the pandemic as well as work at attracting new business owners to the areas.
investStratford CEO Joani Gerber says businesses are handling the ongoing pandemic the best way they can.
“We are unfortunately a bit used to this up and down and constant spin cycle, but I’m really looking forward to these ambassadors working closely with the BIA and city centre committee in both of those locations.”
The programming will start in January and February and continue through the rest of the year.
