Bain, Jean Doreen

Jean (Lyoness) Bain, age 95, a resident of Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021.

Jean was born in Stratford, the fifth daughter of George and Elizabeth (Manto) Lyoness. She married Maurice Bain in October of 1947. Lovingly remembered by children Gerald (Jerry) and Paulene Bain and Marilyn and David Schultz all of Milverton. Grandchildren Jennifer (Glenn) Anderson, Michael (Carrie) Schultz, Melanie (Calvin) Pasher, Stephanie (Matthew) Drost, Debbie Bain (Friend Trevor) and Trevor Bain. Also survived by her precious 11 great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly. Also survived by one brother Jack (June) Lyoness of Stratford and many nieces and nephews.

She was a life member of Burns Presbyterian Church and a member of the choir for 30 plus years. She served on the Board of Managers, Ladies Aid, WMS, Caretaking, Fund raising and Elder as well as working along side her husband in the hardware store. She was an honorary member of the Milverton Fair Board and Milverton’s first citizen of the Year in 1981 and enjoyed travelling with the Red Hat Sisters. She spent many hours quilting with the Happy Hollow Helpers and the Kirkton guild as well as the Milverton Thrift Store and then ran the Tuck Shop of Knollcrest and worked with the Auxiliary for over 30 years.

Besides her parents.she is predeceased by her husband in 1990. She was also predeceased by sisters Florence (Bill) Thistle, Margarite (Thomas) Smith, Edythe (Andy) Davidson, Edna (Bill) Templeton and brother Bruce (Betty) Lyoness. Brother-and sisters-in-law Allan (Anne) Bain and Gladys (Bill) Bourke.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton, on Friday, December 24, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. A funeral service is to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.

Those wishing to be in attendance must wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Burns Presbyterian Church or Knollcrest Lodge would be appreciated by the family and can be done on the funeral home website.
