Hospitals in Perth and Huron Counties to continue to require proof of vaccination

Hospitals in Huron Perth will continue to require visitors and caregivers to provide proof of vaccination.  While the province won’t be requiring them for places like restaurants and gyms as of March 1st, officials with the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance say they will continue with the safety precaution as hospitals continue to admit COVID-19 patients for treatment.

“Clearly, we are all pleased to see the easing of public health measures and welcome the positive impacts these changes will have on individuals, businesses, and communities,” says Andrew Williams, President & CEO. “However, as a health care institution that continues to regularly care for COVID-19 patients, we need to exercise caution and will therefore continue to require proof of vaccination status for family, caregivers, visitors, and contractors, with some exceptions. Our COVID-19 Immunization Policy for midwives, physicians, and staff will remain in full effect.”

Ontario’s Science Table modelling predicts an increase in hospitalizations as restrictions lift and hospitals must continue to ensure they have the capacity to accept patient transfers within 24 to 48 hours.

But hospitals in Perth and Huron counties will gradually begin to increase surgical services to 70-percent of 2019 volumes over the next few days.  Priority will be given to people who have waited for treatment the longest.
