Stratford City Council to send letter to province about More Housing for Everyone Act

Stratford City Council will be sending the province a letter voicing its displeasure with the More Housing for Everyone Act, also known as Bill 109.

At Monday night’s council meeting, Councillor Danielle Ingram put forward a motion that was unanimously agreed to, that the new legislation will create more red tape and cause significant budgetary pressure on the city if building applications are not processed within the new 90-day timeline and refunds have to be given.

The bill was introduced by the Ford government as part of its plan to reduce the housing crisis in Ontario and received rapid-fast Royal Assent before the comment and consultation period was over.
