Fitzgerald (McLaughlin), Leila Mae

Leila Mae Fitzgerald (McLaughlin) nee Murphy, age 89, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at peopleCare (Tavistock) on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Born in Ashfield Township, daughter of the late Patrick and Irene (Austin) Murphy. Loving mother of Marlene (Bill) Deith, Barry (Lori) Fitzgerald, Kevin (Janet) Fitzgerald and Jamie (Audrey) Fitzgerald. Proud and much-loved grandmother of Leanne (Mike) Porter, Kelly (Shane) Sadoway, Cailyn Fitzgerald, Alysha (Paul) McCoubrey, Trevor (Cara) Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald (Kaylee LaBerge), Zach Fitzgerald, Jazz Fitzgerald, Jeff (Becky) Fitzgerald, Jolene (Andrew) Parr and her great grandchildren Tommy, Sam, Bryden, Sara, Aubree, Delia, Ben, Cal, Isla, Mia, Birdie, Julia, Aubrey, Jake and Austin. Leila will be remembered by her sister-in-law Flora Murphy and brother-in-law Rick Kerr. Besides her parents, Leila was predeceased by husbands Jack and Harold, brothers Raymond (Phyliss) and Joseph, and sisters Bernice (Roy) Masonville and Mary Kerr.

Mom was very proud of the fact that she raised four wonderful kids on her own.   She loved to dance, play the piano and very much enjoyed family get togethers.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron St, Stratford. Private family interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery. Those who wish to join the family from their home can do so by clicking view livestream under Leila’s obituary on the funeral home website.
