Miller, Doris

Doris Lillian Miller, a resident of Hillside Manor, R.R. 5 Stratford, passed away on December 27, 2013, in her 95th year. Born in Drayton, Ontario,  she was the daughter of the late George and Rachel (Doyle) Clark. She grew up in Drayton, and graduated from Hamilton Normal School. After teaching for a few years, she married Sherman Roy Miller in 1945. After raising four children, she was an active member of the former Centennial United Church, Stratford where she taught Sunday School and was a member and former President of the United Church Women. She was also a member of the local Genealogical Society. Her warmth and love of life touched many. Dear mother of Derwyn Miller and wife Margaret of Newmarket, the late Sue Robins and husband Ken of Stratford, Sheila Churilla and husband Joe of Bradford and Lynne Grobbecker and husband Bernd of St. Marys.  Beloved grandmother of Heather Jones and husband John of Stratford, Sherri Steele and husband Nick of Acton, Jodie and Chris Churilla of Bradford and Alicia Grobbecker of London, Kurt Grobbecker of St. Marys and great grandmother to Avery and Gavin Jones and Parker Steele.  As well as her husband, daughter and parents, she was predeceased by a sister Agnes Cragg.  A funeral service in Doris’ memory will be held at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street., Stratford on January 2, 2013 at 2p.m. Reverend Tom Beecroft will officiate. Burial of cremated remains at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada through the funeral home at 519-271-5062. www.jarfh.com
