Municipalities in Perth County are putting in some fire restrictions because of the hot, dry conditions.
Open-air burning is now only permitted in West Perth, Perth East, and a portion of Perth South from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
While a total burn ban isn’t currently in effect, Fire Chief William Hunter says the decision to restrict the hours was made because of factors including the dry weather and smoky conditions.
He says the fire chiefs in the area are in constant communication and reevaluate the situation several times a day.
Perth County continues to be under a Special Air Quality Statement from Environment Canada.
