Stratford region’s unemployment rate rose in August

Job losses in agriculture and manufacturing helped cause the unemployment rate in the Stratford region to go up last month.

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says the rate increased by 0.2 per cent in August to come out at 4.5 %.

Industries including forestry, fishing, and oil and gas saw the biggest job gains while the largest drop off was in agriculture.

In the services-producing sector, finance and real estate saw job gains while educational services saw job losses.
