August saw an unexpected drop in home sales in the Stratford region.
That’s according to officials with the Huron Perth Association of Realtors who say there were 138 units sold last month, a substantial decline of 11.5 per cent from the same time a year ago.
On a year-to-date basis, the number of homes sold over the first eight months of 2023 is down close to 10 per cent from the same period in 2022.
Officials say August’s decline followed three consecutive months of stronger activity and marks one of the lowest levels for the month in 20 years.
They say they will be keeping a close eye on where sales trend to see if this is the beginning of a new direction or just a one-off in the second half of the summer.
