Three new pedestrian crosswalks coming to Stratford

Three new signalized crosswalks are on the way in Stratford.

At their regular meeting on Monday night, Stratford City Council approved a contract worth almost $120,000 to J-AAR Excavating Limited from London for the installation of the crosswalks on Downie Street, Romeo Street North, and Lorne Avenue West.

The one on Downie Street will be near Bruce Street, the Romeo Street North crosswalk will be close to McCarthy Road and the Lorne Avenue West location will be close to St.Vincent Street South.

They will include flashing lights, pedestrian push buttons, and pavement markings.

Council set aside $100,000 in this year’s budget for the work with the rest being taken from reserves.
