Four times a year residents can fish for free in Ontario.
Mother’s Day weekend is one of those allotted time periods.
A fishing license is not required May 11-12. Anglers are asked to follow fishing regulations that include following conservation license catch limits, obeying size limits and sanctuaries, following fishing regulations and carrying a permit/ID card issued by the provincial or federal government, which shows name and date of birth.
The next free fishing periods include Father’s Day weekend June 15-16 and Family Fishing Week June 29-July 7. A Family Fishing Weekend is also held Feb. 17-19.
