Isabella Mills picked up a silver medal and Landon Van Bakel won a bronze for St. Michael on the opening day of the OFSAA track and field championships in London on Thursday.
Mills had a best effort of 5.38m in the novice girl’s division long jump while Van Bakel launched a 47.79m effort in the novice javelin event.
Mills is also competing in hurdling events at the provincials.
The provincial track and field championships continue until Saturday, with athletes from around Perth County competing against qualifiers from across Ontario.
A total of eight athletes from St. Michael qualified for OFSAA, while 16 qualified from Stratford District Secondary School.
Athletes are also competing from St. Marys DCVI.
