Imagine spending nearly 50 years finding the sites of the Group of Seven paintings?
Jim and Sue Waddington have spent their summers finding more than 800 locations depicted by the famous Canadian artists.
Leslee Squirrel, from Bayfield Centre for the Arts, says all of that work will be the subject of a presentation series entitled, In The Footsteps.
“This has been kind of a puzzle that Jim and Sue fell into 47 years ago and it became how they spent their summers every year.”
Squirrel says many of the locations of the paintings were not very well documented by the artists themselves.
But you don’t have to be an art fan to enjoy the couple’s work.
“This particular presentation would appeal to people who are outdoor lovers, or campers, or kayakers.”
The artists work depicts the natural topography of Canada. Not just Ontario but places like Nova Scotia, BC, Yukon and Nunavit.
The Waddingtons visited those places, also, Squirrel said.
In the Footsteps is being held on Aug 20 at Bayfield Town Hall. Tickets are available at Bayfieldarts.ca.
