City council approves Shakespeare Park urban gym

City Council has approved a proposal to install outdoor fitness equipment.

This initiative, known as the Stratford Urban Gym, aims to promote fitness, community health and well-being.

The price tag is just over $118,000 but the project is financed through donations, so there is no impact on the city’s budget.

The new fitness area will be located at Shakespeare Park, next to Stratford’s All Wheels Park, and will include a variety of exercise equipment accessible to all ages and abilities.

Bruce Whittaker, the founder and developer of the local skate park, noted earlier this year that the gym is the latest addition to enhance the overall park experience.

Coun. Bonnie Henderson thanked Whittaker for his contributions to the project and encouraged others to donate.
