It was a Dog Day of Summer to support Stratford Perth Humane Society.
The aptly named event at Stratford Kia Thursday focused on gathering essential resources for the humane society.
Beverly Martin, event coordinator for the Humane Society, said volunteers and fosters are always welcome.
“We also are in need of any food and strong toys like Kongs for our pups. They can be very destructive, so anything that’s strong and durable is needed and used daily,” Martin said.
Foster parents Candace and Jeff shared her experience with one-year-old Kili, a dog currently available for adoption through the Humane Society.
“I feel like I’m helping. It’s interesting to see their different personalities,” said Candace, noting that becoming a foster parent involves a thorough set of dog-related questions.”
Cheryl Smith, owner of Fido’s Playground, discussed the positive impact and suggested a new type of donation.
“I thought if people maybe started giving donations of training, so then if you were to adopt a certain dog, it would come with some training sessions.”
The “Dog Day This Summer” event successfully brought the community together to support the Stratford Perth Humane Society, emphasizing the need for durable donations, foster caregivers, and the potential benefit of training donations for adoptable dogs.
