Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced $11.18 million in new infrastructure funding.
Funds are spread through municipalities in Perth and Wellington counties, with $2.13 million earmarked for North Perth for reconstruction of Wallace Avenue North, and $1.19 million going to Perth South, for Station Road reconstruction.
Rae said the funding is part of a $400 million investment to help build, repair, and maintain municipal roads, bridges, and culverts to promote housing growth.
North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg said the funds, through the province’s Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream, will advance development in the north east development zone, one of the municipality’s growth zones.
“This area will provide much needed housing opportunities, including those within the recently expanded settlement boundary, while also supporting future commercial and light industrial employment lands.”
Sue Orr, Mayor of Perth South, said the the new housing units will “provide much-needed accommodation for our population, while the improved infrastructure will support
economic development and attract new investments to our area.”
