The Stratford Festival’s Tom Patterson Theatre is getting more recognition.
The theatre received an honour award for architecture from the U.S. Institute of Theater Technology (USITT).
The architecture awards program honors excellence in design and has recognized architects of theatre projects for 25 years.
Hariri Pontarini Architects worked on the project. The theatre near the Avon River, opened in 2022 and regularly hosts productions during the Stratford Festival season.
The festival said through a collaborative process, they achieved a venue that is not only visually stunning and supportive of every artistic endeavour, but also timeless in design and at the forefront of modern technology.
The Tom Patterson Theatre also won the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture.
