Stratford police foil escape using vehicles to stop suspects

What started with the theft of the Annie’s Seafood Restaurant food truck ended with police using their vehicles to hold the line and prevent an alleged thief from driving away.

Stratford police responded Saturday after the food truck was stolen earlier that morning.

They were able to identify a blue Ford pickup truck through video surveillance.

Police were called to another attempted theft on Griffith Road early the following morning, involving the same truck they believed was used at the restaurant.

Officers found a male and female attempting to steal a skid steer.

Police used their cruisers to block the pickup truck in, and attempted an arrest, but the driver resisted and allegedly assaulted one officer.

He was forcibly removed from the vehicle as he continued to step on the accelerator, driving into police cruisers blocking the way.

Officers were able to gain control of the suspect and the truck.

The food truck was recovered with a large amount of items taken.

A 49-year-old male and 54-year-old female, of Hamilton, face multiple charges, including possession of property obtained by crime.
