Teresa Van Nes passed away peacefully at VON Sakura House, Woodstock, on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Teresa was born in Aarlanderveen, Holland, on February 22, 1938, daughter of the late John and Cornelia Vernooy. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 along with her parents and siblings. Teresa always welcomed all to her home, either with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. She had a great sense of humour and loved to have fun. She was an avid volunteer at the Ontario Pork Congress and the Benelux club. Beloved wife of Jack Van Nes, whom she married on April 4, 1959. Together they raised three children: Jim (Ruby), John (Marg) and Pat (Ron). Oma to Ryan, Sarah (Justin), Sean (Brittany), Amy (Sean), Jacob, Tony, Vivianna, Isabella (Jay), Lisa (Allan), Michael (Lydia), Nick, Scott (Christie), Erin (Kyle) and Mark.
Great Oma to Jayden, Tayia, and Jack. She was the loving sister of Nick Vernooy (Betty), John Vernooy (Mary), Bill Vernooy(Pat), Corrie Vink (Bill), Betsy Coleman (Terry), Joe Vernooy ( Joze), Jim Vernooy.
Special sister in law to Ted De Jeu, Linda Vernooy, Theo Van Nes, Alice Van Dyk, Bill Van Nes, Betty Van Nes, Harry Van Nes (Maryke). Besides her parents she was predeceased by her father and mother in law Jacobus and Matilda Van Nes. She was also predeceased by her sisters Anne Van Gerwen and husband Harry, Mary De Jeu, her brothers Father Paul Vernooy, Peter Vernooy, in laws Cora Vernooy, Rita and Fred Baker, Regina Van Nes, Jim Van Dyk, Margaret Van Nes, Henk Van Nes
She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends and relatives may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers taking place during the visitation at 7:30p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford, on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Avondale cemetery.
