The town of of St. Marys has denied a 300-thousand dollar funding request from the Stratford Perth Hospice Committee.
Mayor Al Strathdee sided against the request with two other councillors in the tie-vote.
Secured funding from the South West LHIN is enough to build a six-bed hospice, but the committees is trying to raise funds to have 10 beds to serve Stratford, Perth County and St. Marys.
The city of Stratford is committing 1-point-5 million over five years.
The Hike of Hospice walks in Mitchell, Stratford and St. Marys over the weekend had a combined fundraising goal of 50-thousand.
