The fiance of a 27-year-old Vanastra woman has now been charged in her death.
Media reports say 29-year-old Corey Douglas Volland has been charged with second-degree
murder in the death of Laura Wigelsworth whose body was discovered near a road last Thursday
morning.
The man made a brief appearance in a London court via video link Sunday morning and is due to appear in
court in person in Goderich on Monday.
Police sent out a release late Saturday night saying that a post-mortem examination had ruled
Wigelsworth’s death a homicide and that an unidentified man had been arrested earlier in the
day
Wigelsworth was last seen going for a walk in Vanastra last Wednesday evening and her body was discovered
by a passerby near Front Road, close to Huron Road, Thursday morning.
The two were to be married in August.
Wigelsworth was the mother of two children from a prior relationship while Volland also has one child from a previous relationship.
