With the Labour Day long weekend almost here, lots of us are looking back at the kind of summer its been.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips says, weather-wise, it’s been a great summer that started with the warmest May on record which was followed by every month after being warmer than normal.
He says pretty much every day was 2 degrees warmer than what we usually see in our area and that meant it was great for those in the agriculture sector because we also saw plenty of rain.
Phillips says people have had great weather to enjoy while being out and about.
“We had 18 days where the temperature got above 30 degrees, that’s often a mark of what kind of a beer drinking, muscle shirt, tank top kind of summer did you have, well 18 days, normal would be 9 so you doubled those.”
Phillips adds that just because fall is almost here doesn’t mean we won’t have a few more days where the temperature will go over 30
