A total burning ban across much of Ontario isn’t in place in Perth East and West Perth.
Officials say the ban isn’t in effect in the areas as they understand the agricultural need and support their farmers 100 per cent, and they appreciate the small campfire, where family members of a household can gather together.
However, in the last 24 hours local fire departments have been called to three illegal burns with a fire suppression response required to two rural properties.
Both of the burns were not compliant with municipal burn bylaws.
As a result of these non-compliant burns, officials say fire fighters were unnecessarily placed in a position where they were not able to follow the physical distancing recommendations.
If you have questions on the burns you’re asked to call your local fire department.
