Humane Society appealing to the public to help save life of elderly dog

You’re being asked to help save the life of an elderly dog found in a plastic bag.

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has launched an urgent appeal campaign after the dog was found near Listowel.

She was brought in by a member of the public in a very poor condition on July 30th and the humane society says the physical examination, including bloodwork and x-rays, administered by the veterinary team, revealed a long list of health concerns.

The small geriatric dog, approximately 12 years of age, was diagnosed with chronic vaginal prolapse, multiple mammary tumors, dental disease, arthritis and severely overgrown toenails.

Humane Society staff named the dog Mildred and she’s now undergone a spay procedure and had the largest of her mammary tumors removed and sent to the lab to rule out cancer.

Mildred will need multiple surgeries to improve her condition and the humane society is asking you to donate to the Mildred Needs Your Help campaign to help cover the costs.

The dog’s case was reported to Provincial Animal Welfare Services for further investigation.
